State Senator Christopher J. Ryan (SD-50) today announced $100,500 in state funding to the Solvay Tigers Athletic Club Inc. for improvements to the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center. The funding awarded by Senator Ryan will cover a variety of renovations and repairs from new doors to new exercise equipment.
“Strong community spaces are essential to the quality of life in Central New York,” said Senator Ryan. “The Youth Center provides young people and families with a space to connect, access important resources, and build lasting relationships. I’m proud to provide this funding that allows Solvay Tigers to improve and maintain this great community asset.”
Tom Venturini, executive director of the Solvay-Geddes Community Youth Center, said “We are profoundly grateful for the leadership and support from Senator Ryan. This funding allows us to modernize our operations to meet the ongoing needs of our community members for years to come.”
The $100,500 grant will cover the cost of new doors, a floor scrubber, a wall heater, a bingo console, and new exercise equipment—including a rowing machine, treadmill, recumbent bike, and more—as well as repairs to the steam room.
