Sen. Christopher J. Ryan today honored Hart’s Cafe & Deli in Cicero with an Empire Award. An Empire Award is given to businesses that have achieved a high level of excellence and have contributed to the growth, prosperity and betterment of the community.

“Hart’s Cafe & Deli has won over the community with its incredible food and friendly environment,” said Senator Ryan. “Hart’s has become a true community gathering place– welcoming neighbors from all walks of life and contributing to the economic growth of Cicero. This Empire Award recognizes the hard work and dedication that make small businesses like Hart’s such an important part of our region.”

Owner and head chef, Miguel Lockhart, was born in Brooklyn, NY and has over 35 years of experience as an executive chef. Miguel opened Hart’s in 2024 and is a member of the American Culinary Federation, NAACP, and is involved at his local church.

“Opening Hart’s Cafe & Deli has been a dream come true,” said Miguel Lockhart, owner and head chef. “When I opened our doors in 2024, my goal was simple. I wanted to serve great food and create a place where people feel at home. This award means so much because it reflects the support of the Cicero community and the hard work of those at Hart’s. I’m grateful to Senator Ryan for this recognition and proud to be part of a town that truly supports its local businesses.”

Those who joined Sen. Ryan in honoring Hart’s Cafe & Deli included Onondaga County Legislator Tim Burtis and members of the Cicero Town Board.
