NYS Senator Dean Murray held press conference with fellow members of the NYS Senate and Assembly regarding the legislature to take up the "Nick's Law" legislation before the end of the year and pass it into law. "Nicks Law" legislation was introduced in 2023 by Senator Murray and Assemblyman Smith because of the number of hit-and-runs incidences resulting in a death. The legislation will increase the penalties for those convicted of leaving the scene of an accident involving a death.

NYS Senator Dean Murray and NYS Assemblyman Joe DeStefano attended the "Long Island Dystonia Zoo Day" at the Holtsville Wildlife and Ecology Center. They joined with Long Island families to promote awareness of Dystonia and to raise funds for the Dystonia Medical Research Foundation. Senator Murray and Assemblyman DeStefano presented resolutions to Linda Tobin Davis, the founder of "Fight for a Cure," to proclaim the month of September 2023 as "Dystonia Awareness Month" in the State of New York.

"Almost Home Animal Rescue and Adoption, Inc." receives the NYS Senate Empire Award

(East Patchogue, NY) – A Patchogue animal rescue organization has been recognized by NY State Senator Dean Murray (R,C), for their excellent work with pet rescues and adoptions. Senator Murray presented the New York State Senate Empire Award to Linda Klampfl, the founder of "Almost Home Rescue & Adoption, Inc.," who was joined by members of her staff and several volunteers.

Shed the Meds Event

NYS Senator Dean Murray recently hosted a "Shed the Meds" event at the Sachem Library with the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department. The free event allowed the public to, safely and properly, dispose of unused and/or expired prescription drugs and over the counter medications. The event resulted in the collection of six large boxes of medication. Thank you to the Suffolk County Sheriff's Office, Sachem Public Libary officials and those individuals who safely disposed of their medication.

South Ocean Middle School Receives New State Flag
