On Friday, December 17th, Senator Serrano joined NYCEDC and his colleagues in government to cut the ribbon for the recently renovated La Placita, a community events space at La Marqueta in East Harlem. This event also marked the start of the Harlem Night Market, showcasing the rich cultural diversity of East Harlem.

The $10 million space features a stage, bleachers, exhibition areas for artists, and upgraded facilities for the public. This was the first event held at La Placita since 2019.

"La Placita is a local gem, serving as a destination for East Harlem residents to gather and celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the neighborhood," said Senator Serrano. "These latest improvements will make La Placita even more welcoming, and I encourage New Yorkers to come and experience it for themselves.
