It’s good news: Staten Island elected officials secure $550K in funding for Sunrise Day Camp

On Friday, July 10, State Sen.Jessica Scarcella-Spanton and Assemblyman Charles D. Fall announced key funding secured from the state of New York for the Lucille and Jay Chazanoff Sunrise Day Camp.
The good news is that together, Scarcella-Spanton and Fall secured $550,000 to benefit the camp, financial support that will allow the camp to continue to provide — completely free — joyful summer experiences and ensure that kids have summer fun while allowing them to continue their medical treatments.
Scarcella-Spanton said said she was incredibly proud to announce news of the funding.
“The funding will ensure that these kids will enjoy being kids at this incredible camp,” she said. “This is the only camp of its kind within the five boroughs for kids with cancer and their siblings. The camp now provides year-round services. As a mom, I love to watch these kids enjoy camp activities. And of all the things we fund, this one of the most important causes.”
