No toll for the troops? Staten Island lawmakers push Verrazzano exemption

The resolution supports state legislation sponsored by state Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton, a Democrat representing the North Shore and South Brooklyn.
“As the State Senator that represents both of these military installations, I know how these tolls can really add up, placing an egregious burden on service members and their families,” she said. “Our service members give so much to our country, so it is only right that we do everything in our power to make New York the best state for them to live in. This simple toll exemption would be an important step in making our state more affordable for service members, providing them much needed relief from the cost of traveling over the Verrazzano Bridge each day.”
