On Wednesday, September 18th, the Yonkers Partners in Education hosted its 6th Annual Gala at the Cross Shopping Center which celebrated education "in style" and honored the achievements of Yonkers public school students. This annual special event, which helps continue YPIE's mission "to ensure that all children who attend the Yonkers Public Schools have the tools, support and guidance needed to complete a post-secondary program", was attended by over 400 supporters, including Mr. Kevin Lee, Cultural Ambassador of China, Ms. Tina Chen, Director of Shenmo Mental Math Program in San Diego, and of course, Senator Stewart-Cousins, familiar to local residents as a former teacher and long-time proponent of quality education for children of Yonkers.
