Last night, I had the privilege to present a proclamation to Melis Schildkraut of Brighton. She was awarded a scholarship by The Credit Union Association of New York's Rochester Credit Unions. The Rochester Chapter Scholarship Awards Program, solely funded by the annual Rochester Chapter Scholarship Golf Tournament, awards scholarships annually to High School seniors who are members of participating Rochester area Credit Unions. Scholarship applications are distributed to participating Credit Unions in November each year with entries being due in late January. Applicants are judged on their academic and essay writing skills, as well as their extra-curricular activities by a panel of volunteer judges. In April each year the Chapter honors the winners, their parents and family members at our Scholarship Awards Banquet. Since 2002, the Chapter has awarded over $134,000.00 in scholarships to over 130 talented High School Seniors.
