(Yonkers - December 15th) The round was broken for a new affordable housing project at 188 Warburton Avenue. The $27 million project with 51 units will replace two buildings at the aging Cottage Gardens Complex next door. State, federal and local financing will make it all possible. The Community Builders, Inc, one of the nation's leading nonprofit real estate developers and owners will build it with the Muncipal Housing Authority for the City of Yonkers. As someone who grew up in public housing, I have a true appreciation for affordable housing projects like this that will make a real difference in so many lives, by providing a clean, safe and secure home. I support state financing options that turn affordable housing plans into reality.
