Senator Stewart-Cousins took time on Wednesday, July 30th, to attend the Afya Annual Volunteer Award Ceremony and recognize the hard work of the individuals helping people in developing countries in Africa and the Caribbean. Founded by Danielle Butin, Senator Stewart-Cousins' candidate for 2014 Woman of Distinction, the Afya Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mission "recover targeted surplus medical supplies, hospital equipment and humanitarian provisions from the New York healthcare, corporate and private communities in order to establish categorized inventory to support ongoing health initiatives in Africa and the Caribbean.
