On Friday, January 31st, a joint Popeyes-Burger King restaurant opened up across from Yonkers City Hall in the heart of downtown Yonkers. The franchise hired a staff of 70+ people and is in a prime location for what was a long-time a defunct eyesore of a closed diner. At this ribbon cutting ceremony, Senator Stewart-Cousins talked about the importance of stimulating the local economy, and how the opening of this restaurant will do just that to the Yonkers community.
