Andrea Stewart-Cousins
February 24, 2014
On February 23rd, Senator Stewart-Cousins and other local elected officials joined the White Plains Historical Society at the Jacob Purdy House to celebrate the birthday of America's Founder, George Washington. The event program included a flag raising ceremony and a lecture by historian Barnet Schecter titled "Revolutionary War Battles in NY Through George Washington's Maps". The coverlet containing pictures of historic White Plains houses and buildings, which the Senator happily purchased to support the organization, can be purchased at the WPHS online gift shop.
The White Plains Historical Society is an organization with a mission to "discover, preserve, and disseminate knowledge about history, past and present, of the City of White Plains". For more information about this organization, you can visit WhitePlainsHistory.org.
