(New Rochelle - October 9th) An informative roundtable discussion in New Rochelle was led by U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand on October 9th. Senator Stewart-Cousins joined with other elected officials including State Senator George Latimer in discussing how best to combat gun violence. Senator Gillibrand also discussed the Hadiya Pendleton and Nyasia Pryer-Yard Gun Trafficking & Crime Prevention Act of 2015 that she has introduced. The bi-partisan bill would make gun trafficking a federal crime, and help law enforcement in the crackdown on illegal guns purchased elsewhere that are brought to our area and sold illegally. The State Senate Democrats, led by Senator Stewart-Cousins were instrumental in passing the NYSAFE Act, and have led the fight to curb gun violence and protect lives while also respecting Constitutional rights.
