(Purchase - June 14th) Senator Stewart-Cousins joined Congressman Eliot Engel, walk participants and Yonkers-native Pat Quinn at the start of the "Walk To Defeat ALS" in Purchase on June 14th. After the ribbon was cut, the Senator shared words of encouragement with the participants. Pat Quinn, who has ALS, helped the Ice Bucket Challenge go viral in 2014, raising $63 million and worldwide awareness regarding the incurable disease also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. Earlier this year, the Senator sponsored a Senate Resolution recognizing Pat for his efforts. The walk is part of the ALS Association's annual fundraising efforts as they search for a cure.
