Senator Bonacic Congratulates John P. Melville on Confirmation as Commissioner of NYS Homeland Security and Emergency Services

(Albany, NY)- Senator Bonacic is pleased to announce that Goshen, NY resident, John P. Melville has been confirmed as the Commissioner of the New York State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services, by the New York State Senate. Prior to his confirmation, Melville served as a sworn member of the New York State Police for 31 years. He served as a Major in Troop F and Troop NYC, coordinating the State Police’s response to the September 11th terrorist attacks. In 2010, he was appointed by then Governor David Paterson to serve as Acting Superintendent of the New York State Police. From 2012-2014, Melville served as Chief Investigator at the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.
“John Melville has dedicated his professional career to protecting the people of New York State,” said Bonacic. “I couldn’t think of a more qualified individual to lead the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services. His experience and breadth of knowledge will be an asset to state government.”
