Waterloo- Senator Mike Nozzolio recently joined members of the Waterloo VFW Post 6433 and their families at the unveiling of the "50 State Flags" ceremony. The flags, representing all 50 states, were obtained by Senator Nozzolio and presented to the VFW to recognize Waterloo as the national birthplace of Memorial Day. These flags will be displayed on special occasions to honor the sacrifices of our veterans who continue to protect our freedoms and our liberty. Senator Nozzolio has been a strong advocate for our veterans and their families and is a sponsor of legislation that would create a “New York State Veterans Remembrance” license plate. The funds from these license plates would go into New York's Veterans Remembrance and Cemetery Maintenance Operation Fund and be used to create and support veterans cemeteries in New York State, including the Sampson Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Seneca County.
