Robert G. Ortt
February 6, 2015
Senator Ortt helped set up cardboard boxes for those braving the cold Friday night as part of the Jerry Starr Ken-Ton Schools' Sleepout. Organized by Educators Totally Committed (ETC), the event brings awareness to the plight of the homeless and those in need. Dozens of students, teachers and parents took up temporary residences in boxes in the parking lot of Hoover Middle School. Monetary donations along with food, clothing, and other items were collected throughout the evening. The sleepout event has been running for 28 years.
