Daily News: Officials ask to lower East River Ferry ticket prices when new routes launch
February 22, 2016
In a letter Wednesday to the city Economic Development Corporation and operator NY Waterway, 20 elected officials said that the East River Ferry should lower its $4 one-way ticket prices when the new ferry routes are launched next year.
The fares for the new routes will be tied to the price of a MetroCard swipe.
“Fair ferry fares will help our ferry system fare well. C train and 4 train riders pay the same fare, East River Ferry and new ferry service riders should too,” said State Sen. Dan Squadron (D-Manhattan/Brooklyn), one of the lead officials on the letter along with Councilman Ben Kallos (D-Manhattan)."
