(Middletown, NY)-Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $50,000 grant for the Town of Thompson to rehab the existing Main Pavilion at the Town of Thompson Park. The grant money was made available through the State Municipal Grant Program, which was included in the Fiscal Year 2015-2016 State Budget. Anticipated repairs include, replacing the existing roof, replacing the siding of the pavilion, as well as making access to the pavilion handicap accessible.
“The grant to the Town of Thompson will not only help improve the Town Park, but it will save the taxpayers’ money,” said Senator Bonacic.
Town of Thompson Supervisor William Rieber, Jr. said, “Many thanks to Sen. Bonacic for his efforts in securing this grant which will enable us to replace the 40 year old roof and make other repairs on our Town Park Pavilion. This wonderful 1970’s building is home to our summer park program serving 200 children. The improvements will ensure a safe and dry environment for many years to come.”
