Senator Bonacic Announces $75,000 Grant for Village of Florida to Construct Sidewalks on Maple Ave.
February 5, 2016
(Middletown, NY)-State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce that he has secured a $75,000 grant for the Village of Florida to help with the construction of sidewalks on Maple Avenue in the Village. The construction of sidewalks on Maple Avenue would complete an access route through the business district in the center of the Village, and create a safer, one-mile pedestrian pathway. The funds for the grant were made available through the State Municipal Grant Program.
“The residents and the business owners in the Village of Florida will benefit greatly from the construction of sidewalks on Maple Avenue,” said Senator Bonacic. “Projects like this, ensure pedestrian safety, save the taxpayers’ money, while also increasing commerce in the Village’s business district.”
“I would like to thank Senator Bonacic for working hard to secure the funding for this project. It is that effort by the Senator that allows for projects like this to occur, and help the Village stay under the tax-cap,” said Village of Florida Mayor James Pawliczek.
