(Albany, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) announced today that the Town of Hamden has been awarded a $75,000 grant for improvements to the Hamden Water District. The grant was secured via the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding for which was appropriated in the 2016-2017 State Budget.

In 2000, the entire Hamden water district was upgraded except for a section of the hamlet on the south side of NYS Route 10. This section serves about 6 homes and businesses with about 20 individuals residing in those homes. The project would consist of connecting these homes and businesses off the new 2000 six-inch water main on the north side of the State Highway. This would involve a series of directional drills under the state road, as well as some sidewalk and pavement repairs. This would also include the total replacement of 360 feet of the 900 feet of 4-inch water main.

“This grant is vitally important to the residents of the Town of Hamden because it will improve the critical water infrastructure in the Town,” said Senator Bonacic. “In addition, it will save the taxpayers of the Town of Hamden money.”
