Today, the New York State Senate passed Benny Lyde's Law - honoring a young man in our community who was shot and killed, and recognizing the particularly heinous nature of crimes committed with a weapon against children & young people.

Thanks to the entire Lyde family. I thank them for their strength, then & now, in the most difficult circumstances a family can face, for their courage to speak out and share their story with fellow New Yorkers, and for their advocacy in seeing this legislation through to this important milestone.
