(Middletown, NY)- State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/C/I-Mt. Hope) is pleased to announce a $100,000 grant for the Town of Colchester to assist with the purchase of a new plow truck for the Highway Department. The grant was secured through the State and Municipal Facilities Program, funding of which was appropriated in the 2017-2018 State Budget.
The acquisition of this truck for the Highway Department will replace a current truck that is 12 years old. The new truck will help the Highway Department maintain the over 110 miles of road in the Town, doing so safely, with a new piece of equipment.
“I’m pleased that the Town of Colchester will receive a new plow truck to assist with the maintenance of Town roads,” said Senator Bonacic. “With the tough winters that we have seen recently, it is crucial that municipalities are equipped with the newest and safest pieces of equipment.”
Town of Colchester Supervisor Art Merrill said, “We are pleased to receive this SAM grant award. Senator Bonacic has always been a loyal supporter and advocate for the Town of Colchester , and his procuring this essential funding for us is further testimony of his diligent effort for his constituents. We thank him for this and everything he has done for us these many years.”
