Dear Municipal Leaders,

New York State offers a wealth of grant opportunities for local governments.  Among these opportunities are programs to improve infrastructure, protect the environment, support local businesses, and advance shared-service agreements that deliver real savings for taxpayers.

As a former Town Supervisor, I understand that navigating these programs can be challenging and time-consuming, and I know how much of a difference grant funding can make in a community. That is why my office created our “Local Government Grant Guide,” updated this year to reflect the latest funding opportunities.

This guide is designed to help you and your team identify programs that may benefit our shared communities. While its primary focus is New York State grants, we have included a selection of private programs as well, and I encourage you to reach out to your federal representatives for information on national programs.

Because many grant programs have short application windows, I encourage you to plan projects early, secure cost estimates, identify potential matching funds, and adopt any required resolutions. Taking these steps in advance can help position your municipality to move quickly when funding becomes available.
