Ag Clips: Sen. Gallivan supports future farmers
The New Farmers Grant Fund was included in this year’s state budget
Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) is teaming up with Erie County Cornell Cooperative Extension and Empire State Development to promote New York’s “New Farmers Grant Fund.” Those looking to start their own farm are invited to attend an informational meeting about the program at 6:30 p.m. on December 17, 2014 at Erie County Cornell Cooperative Extension, 21 Grove Street in East Aurora.
“New York is investing in the future of agriculture by supporting new and early stage farmers. This grant program promotes farming as a career and supports the growth of agribusiness across the state,” Gallivan said.
The New Farmers Grant Fund was included in this year’s state budget as part of a larger effort to preserve family farming and encourage more young people to follow careers in agriculture, which is New York’s number one industry.
Those who attend the information session will learn details about the application process and can get their questions answered by Senator Gallivan and a representative from Empire State Development.
