Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) confirmed today that the New York State Department of Transportation will be installing left turn lanes and a traffic light at the intersection of Route 9W and Laurel Avenue in Cornwall, New York.
"I am very happy to hear that this project is finally moving forward" said Senator Bill Larkin. "This intersection has been the site of numerous accidents and close-calls for many years. The addition of dedicated left turn lanes accompanied by the installation of the traffic light is long overdue and will bring a new measure of safety to this high-traffic area. I commend the New York State Department of Transportation for committing to this project and recognizing the needs of the residents of Cornwall. " said Larkin.
Work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2007. It is estimated that the completion of the project will be six to eight weeks after the start date.
