Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced that he has worked to secure funding for several area charitable organizations.

"It gives me great pleasure to announce this funding on behalf of these worthy organizations," said Senator Larkin. "They are made up mostly of volunteers; people who give their time, talents and energy to look after their less fortunate neighbors. I admire their hard work and applaud their dedication."

Habitat for Humanity in the City of Newburgh has received $50,000 toward the purchase of building materials and services for a new fully handicapped equipped home at 81 Carson Avenue in Newburgh. The home has been dedicated to a single mother with five children, one of whom is disabled and confined to a wheelchair.

Good Samaritan Food & Clothing Pantry in Walden has received $5,000 toward its operating expenses, food, school supplies and equipment. Run strictly by volunteers, the Good Samaritan Food & Clothing Pantry currently serves approximately 80 needy families in Walden.

Jewish Family Service of Orange County, Inc. has received $12,000 to help run its Friendly Visitor Program which matches volunteer visitors with homebound seniors and provides services such as grocery shopping, transportation, household chores and supportive visits to frail and homebound individuals.
