The grave situation involving the restriction of the Batchellerville Bridge is disturbing and I have contacted the Governor numerous times about the future of this bridge and the negative effects of both the current alternating one-way traffic and the future possible closure. I am calling for quick action to replace the bridge so this region does not have to go through a situation that citizens of Crown Point are currently facing --- a closed bridge with jobs on the line and potential emergencies becoming fatal due to slow response times.
In discussion with State Department of Transportation officials, I understand the agency is close to finishing a redesign of the bridge with the expectations of rebidding the project. I continue to urge the Governor to fully fund this project, and am working to secure any possible additional funds so that this important project can be underway.
