Senator Serrano attended the re-opening of El Museo del Barrio, one of New York’s leading Latino cultural institutions. “El Museo plays an important role in the cultural landscape of New York City,” said Serrano. "I am extremely proud to take part in this fantastic event, which represents a milestone for the Latino community, all New Yorkers, and of course, the 28th District.”
The museum hosted an all-day open house celebrating the newly renovated facility, the museum’s 40th anniversary, and the launch of the new Carmen Ana Unanue Galleries. The day was filled with performances, gallery tours, concerts, book readings, and educational activities for both children and adults.
The renovated museum features a new glass façade, a redesigned courtyard, and modernized galleries, among other improvements.
