( Updates with new closure time for Bay Street and Lily Pond exits to 3 AM instead of 5 AM on day of race)
Verrazano-Narrows Bridge
Closed for ING NYC Marathon Sun., Nov. 7th 7 AM to 3 PM;
Upper Level closures begin Sat., Nov. 6 at 11 PM
The ING NYC Marathon will be held on Sunday, Nov. 7th. Motorists traveling to Brooklyn or Staten Island via the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge should seek alternate routes.
Motorists can hear information about closures at the Verrazano-Narrows by calling the Marathon Traffic Info Hotline at: 718-556-8010.
Approximate closure times are as follows:
On Saturday, Nov. 6th, both levels of the upper level of the bridge will be closed to traffic beginning at 11 PM to allow for roadway preparation in advance of the race. Vehicles containing hazardous materials will not be permitted to cross the bridge in either direction beginning 11 PM on Saturday, Nov. 6th.
On Sunday, Nov. 7th, the entire bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions from 7 AM to approximately 3 PM. In addition, the Bay Street and Lily Pond Avenue exits in Staten Island will close at 3 AM on the day of the race as a result of the marathon.
