Staten Island was declared a Federal Disaster Area due to the damage incurred during the March nor’easter. Though Richmond County did not qualify for individual homeowner assistance (Senator Lanza has requested an amendment, to include homeowners assistance), the declaration does cover public assistance, for expenses incurred by public facilities as well as funding for private nonprofits.

Local government agencies and eligible private nonprofit organizations who sustained damage from the storm are urged to submit  a Request for Public Assistance (RPA), which can be downloaded at http://www.semo.state.ny.us/uploads/1692_RPA_Forms.pdf

NO LATER THAN NEXT FRIDAY, MAY 14^TH.

Upon submitting your form, the Federal Office of Emergency Management (FEMA) will schedule a meeting to discuss your organization’s specific needs, and determine your eligibility.
