WHAT: Press conference to announce lawsuit filed against the MTA

WHO: Senator Martin Golden, Councilman Vincent Gentile, Attorney Salvatore Strazzullo, three plaintiffs from south Brooklyn

CITY HALL − Senator Martin Golden (R-C-I-Brooklyn) and Councilman Vincent Gentile (D-Brooklyn) will file a lawsuit tomorrow morning against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, claiming that the Authority’s service cuts unfairly and adversely impact the senior citizens and disabled residents in their districts who rely on those transportation lifelines.

Cuts to bus routes identified in the lawsuit include the complete elimination of weekend express bus service on the X27 and X28, complete elimination of uptown service on the X37 and X38 and the elimination of the B37.

Both Senator Golden and Councilman Gentile held town halls, petition drives and rallies to protest the MTA service changes and cuts. While a few minor alterations to the proposed cuts were made by the Authority, the most significant and devastating cuts are planned to go into effect this Sunday, June 27.
