New York State Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz and the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization to Hold Press Conference at Bronx Rubber Room

 
New York State Senator Reverend Rubén Díaz (D-Bronx) and the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization will hold a press conference on Thursday, February 11, 2009 at 12:00 noon at 501 Courtlandt Avenue to demand the immediate closing of the Bronx Rubber Room.
 
“It is unconscionable that millions of taxpayer dollars set aside for our children’s education continue to be wasted in Rubber Rooms,” declared Senator Reverend Díaz.  “We must put an end to this fiasco and close the Rubber Room in the South Bronx and throughout New York City. If teachers in rubber rooms have been unjustly accused, they should be immediately reinstated. Alternatively, teachers who are unfit to teach should be fired immediately.”
 
Earlier this week, Senator Reverend Díaz called upon the New York State legislature leadership to introduce and pass legislation giving New York City's Department of Education the power and tools to eliminate Rubber Rooms.
