SENATOR SHIRLEY L. HUNTLEY TO ADDRESS BAISLEY HOUSES COMPLAINTS
Calling on NYCHA to Take Action
(D-Jamaica) Senator Shirley L. Huntley will join the tenants of Baisley Houses in a press conference urging the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to take action on long-stalled maintenance issues as a follow up to May 19, 2010 Town Hall meeting..
During Senator Huntley’s Town Hall meeting, she heard from various tenants with several key concerns which included mistreatment of tenants by management, lack of repairs, the poor condition of playground courts, and the lack of a community center.
NYCHA, which was eligible for federal support this year thanks to state legislation (S.6430A) passed by the Senate Majority Conference, received funds to make necessary building repairs but have yet to do so.
