Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently congratulated Amityville Historical Society members Joe and Barbara Guidice on having their home entered in the National Register of Historic Places. The Guidice’s home is the first property in Amityville to be designated as a historical landmark by the National Register of Historic Places.  

            According to the New York State Board of Historic Preservation, the Guidice’s home was built over 100 years ago by prominent local store owner Frank W. Smith. The house, a Queen Anne home which is an example of late Victorian architectural design, was built during a time of rapid population growth in the Village caused by the arrival of the railroad. The Guidices have worked hard to preserve this piece of the Village’s history, restoring the home's interior and exterior to its original integrity.
