NEW YORK – State Senator Daniel Squadron released the following statement upon today's announcement that a number of downtown non-profits will receive $17 million in LMDC Community and Cultural Enhancement Funding:

Our downtown community and cultural organizations are critical to Lower Manhattan’s continued rebuilding. I'm so pleased that these non-profits, including a number I supported, were recognized for their outstanding work serving and revitalizing Lower Manhattan. Their contributions are as integral as the headline projects that are reviving and transforming our community. This funding will allow that work to continue for years to come.

 

I will also continue to work with Senator Schumer and the community boards to fight for the redevelopment funds necessary to compete the East River Waterfront park, including the redevelopment of Pier 42. This funding is critical to the continued revitalization of Lower Manhattan, providing more open, green space to the Lower East Side and Chinatown, bringing new life to New York’s harbor, and creating a unified Harbor Park – a central park for the center of New York City.
