Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a former member of the New York City Council, after reviewing the proposed residential parking permit legislation, gave the following statement:

“Unfortunately, the New York City Council is once again trying to pick the pockets of city residents. This is nothing more than another tax on our communities. The idea that someone would have to pay to park in front of their own home is ludicrous.

“I understand the daily struggle we all face with parking, but, for example, to disallow people who live in Marine Park to easily shop in Bay Ridge is a job killer for small business, an inconvenience for residents, and just another example of how government is piling on taxes and fees.
