Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) today is announcing that the New York City Department of Transportation has responded to his request and has approved two hour parking meters for 3rd and 5th Avenue.

The Department of Transportation has determined based on Senator Golden’s request that the need for additional parking time along these two commercial avenues is warranted. The Bureau of Parking will complete the work to affect this change by April of this year.

Senator Golden stated, “Two hour parking meters for Bay Ridge’s 3rd and 5th Avenue is a tremendous victory for all residents and business owners, as well as those who shop and dine here. For years, those who have parked at meters and dined on 3rd and 5th Avenues, many times had to step out during their meal to feed their meters.”

Golden continued, “These two hour meters will greatly help to improve the economic climate of our community and will hopefully reduce the number of parking summonses. As we continue to work towards rebuilding our local economy, this change will create new opportunities for our stores and restaurants to excel. This decision of the Department of Transportation is appreciated and will be met with much support.”
