STATEMENT FROM SENATOR MICHAEL GIANARIS ON
GOVERNOR CUOMO’S CREATION OF A MORELAND COMMISSION TO
INVESTIGATE PUBLIC UTILITIES
“I applaud Governor Cuomo for investigating the performance of our public utilities, and amhopeful this Commission will bring about the necessary reforms many of us have advocated for years. The utilities’ ongoing inability to restore power to so many homes and businesses isdangerous to people’s health and devastating to our economy. Following the 10-day westernQueens blackout in 2006, I led an Assembly Task Force that made a series of recommendations to improve the industry, and will forward that Report to the Commission for its consideration. I thank Governor Cuomo for his continued leadership and look forward to seeing the positive changes that will result from this effort.”
