In the wake of Hurricane Sandy and the recent devastation which has plagued New York State, Senator Montgomery is pleased to announce that New York State has received $27.7 million in Disaster National Emergency Grant funds. This grant will be used to hire workers to help clean up communities affected by Hurricane Sandy in Bronx, Kings, Nassau, New York, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster and Westchester counties.

Many communities throughout New York State were devastated by the destruction which Hurricane Sandy caused leaving many still without water, power, or food. Workers who lost their jobs as a direct result of Hurricane Sandy or workers who were unemployed prior to the storm are eligible to apply for these temporary but vital positions.
