Senator Jack Martins (R-7th Senate District) recently visited Herricks Middle School to recognize 7th grade student Lexi Zisselman for raising $7,500 for cancer research.
Lexi, who lives in New Hyde Park, organized a “Kick for a Cure” fundraiser at Hofstra University to benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation in honor of her grandfather who passed away from the disease. Lexi brought together over 275 soccer enthusiasts and raised $7,500 for the foundation to use towards finding a cure for Multiple Myeloma.
“Lexi is a very caring young woman who really wants to help others, and what she did was really great. Her efforts will help advance research to find a cure for this terrible disease. We’re very proud of Lexi and congratulate her on a job well done,” said Senator Martins.
