Senator Jack M. Martins (R-Mineola) is inviting local families to participate in his annual summer reading program. The program helps promote literacy and encourages children to continue reading during the summer months.
“Making reading fun for kids is the best way to help them develop a love for it. This program helps children continue to build their reading skills during the summer months in a fun and enjoyable way. I invite all families to participate,” said Senator Martins.
Senator Martins’ summer reading program is open to all elementary school students in his Senate district. To complete the program, participants must read at least three books and write a brief description of them in a summer reading journal. Once children fill out their journal and have it signed by a parent, they can send it back to Senator Martins’ office to receive an official New York State Senate certificate.
Parents interested in having their children participate in Senator Martins’ summer reading program can obtain a summer reading journal by calling his office at 516-746-5924 or emailing him through his website, martins.nysenate.gov.
