Senator Jack M. Martins (R-7th Senate District) and Winthrop-University Hospital will be sponsoring a free “mini-med school” program to help residents learn what to do in common types of medical emergencies. The program will take place on Thursday, May 1st from 7-9 pm in the Nassau County Legislative Chamber (1550 Franklin Avenue, Mineola). 

     Residents who participate in the program will have the opportunity to learn from trained healthcare professionals about what to do if they find themselves in a medical emergency where someone is suffering from: 

     • Burns

     • Choking

     • Ear and eye trauma

     • Falls

     • Fractures and sprains

     • Head injuries

     • Hemorrhaging and wounds

     • Poisoning

     • Weather related injuries such as heat stroke or hypothermia

     • Heart attack

     • Shock

     • Stroke

     Participants will also learn preventative steps about how to prepare themselves to handle these medical and other common emergency situations.
