Senator John Bonacic (R/C/I – Mt. Hope) announces that the City of Port Jervis has been awarded $50,000 in funding from the State & Municipal Facilities Capital Program.
The funding will go towards the creation of a multi-functional youth and community center at Church Street Park which will include a two-story building with gym, recreation room, study rooms, computer stations, and kitchen.
"We serve about twenty community groups, and almost 900 children and young adults,” said Mayor Kelly Decker, “and our existing center, built in 1908, has outgrown its space in the downtown business district. We can’t thank Senator Bonacic enough for this sorely needed funding.”
“The City of Port Jervis has a very active adult and youth community,” said Senator Bonacic, “and an updated recreation center with supervised activities will be a wonderful boost for the city.”
