Today is National Earned Income Tax Credit Day – an effort by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance (NYSDTF) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) to make sure that all New York taxpayers are aware of all of the tax relief available to them.
The EITC is a refundable federal and state income tax credit available to working individuals and families with an adjusted gross income less than $51,567 in 2013. The NYSDTF is reaching out to raise awareness of the EITC which benefits millions of working New Yorkers but is only utilized by four of the five eligible taxpayers who qualify.
To get the information you need about tax relief available to you and your family, please visit the NYSDTF’s web site or the information page of the IRS.
