Albany, NY - State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I) today voted against renewing several taxes affecting New York City residents, including portions of the New York City Sales Tax, and the NYC Personal Income Tax. Despite approval by the New York State Legislature, Senator Golden’s “No” vote signifies his belief that New York City's taxing of middle class families is unsustainable.

“On a regular basis, residents talk with me about the overbearing tax burden they face daily. From tolls, fees, parking tickets, water bills and income tax, it is becoming increasingly more difficult for your average New Yorker to live, work and raise a family. My vote today sends a message to City Hall that we, the tax payers, have had enough. Our tax structure is chasing hardworking middle class families out of our City," said Senator Golden.
