Hoylman: Concerned that "today's proceedings are part of a right-wing, extremist state-by-state effort to dismantle reproductive choice”

Senator Brad Hoylman said: “This cynical ploy by the Senate GOP is clearly designed to provide political cover to anti-choice lawmakers, who continue to attempt to deny New York women access to reproductive healthcare.

“It’s outrageous that in the year 2015, New York State law fails to codify Roe v. Wade and if Senate Republicans had any regard for a woman’s right to choose, they would stop hiding and bring the remainder of Governor Cuomo's Women’s Equality Act to the floor immediately.

“I'm extremely concerned that today's proceedings are part of a right-wing, extremist state-by-state effort to dismantle reproductive choice and nullify Roe v Wade.

“New York women, like my 4-year old daughter, need their state legislature to stand up and provide a crucial backstop against a possible right wing takeover of the Supreme Court. Every voter deserves to know where their senator stands on the basic issue of women’s reproductive health.”
