Schools have 94.6 percent GEA restoration
ALBANY – Senator Catharine Young (R,C,I- Olean) declared victory over the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA), with it almost completely eradicated from her school districts.
“The destructive fiscal gimmick that is the GEA is almost gone from my schools, with 94.6 percent eliminated. We have restored more than $11.5 million in GEA cuts that were implemented by Democrats when they controlled the Senate in 2010,” said Senator Young.
“Senate Republicans have led the charge to get rid of the GEA that has robbed our schools of funding, and our children of learning opportunities,” she said.
“All of my schools agreed that the GEA had to go. It is a positive monumental development that the Senate has delivered on behalf of our kids,” Senator Young said.
