(Albany, NY)- Senator John J. Bonacic, 42nd Senate District, joined other members of the New York State Senate in calling for the end of the Gap Elimination Adjustment (GEA). The GEA is a budget balancing scheme that took away 2.8 billion from school districts throughout the state and was implemented by the Democratic Legislature in 2010. Every Republican in the Senate voted against it.
“Nearly every school district in the state has been negatively impacted by the enactment of the GEA, which hurts our children,” said Bonacic. “I remain committed to working with my colleagues to protect property taxpayers, end the GEA, and ensure that children in New York have access to a first-class education.”
