State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced her measure to help the Village of Philadelphia improve recreational opportunities for individuals and families has passed the Senate.

Legislation approved today was a top priority of local leaders, and would allow the Village to move forward with selling an unused piece of parkland near Water Tower Park.  Under the measure (S.7018-A), proceeds from the sale of the property would be used to help the Village improve existing recreational facilities.

“Opportunities for getting outside—and getting active—are key to any strong community,” said Senator Ritchie. “This legislation will help the Village of Philadelphia obtain the additional resources necessary to increase usable parkland and enhance its recreational facilities.”

“Every day, we are working to make sure individuals and families living in the Village of Philadelphia have the best quality of life possible,” said Village of Philadelphia Mayor Matthew Montroy.

“We would like to thank Senator Ritchie for working with us on this measure, which will help to increase recreational opportunities for residents and make Philadelphia a better place to live.”

The measure was sent to the Assembly.
